We Tried It: A Vibrator That Warms While You Use It

It seems like lately, every new sex toy that comes out has some kind of technological “hook” – for example, it’s made with lasers, it uses sonic technology or it has a fancy, touch sensitive keypad – all designed to give you better, stronger, more convenient orgasms. The Entice Vivien vibrator from California Exotics is no exception. It’s claim to fame? It warms up while you use it.

Yes, you read that correctly. The shaft of the Entice Vivien warms as it vibrates to an incredible 104 F/40 C. Now, that sounds pretty hot, literally. So much so, that I was both intrigued and concerned about this toy when it arrived on my doorstep. Mainly I was concerned that it might actually melt my vagina, or like, catch it on fire or something. I can see the headlines now: “WOMAN SETS FIRE TO VAGINA TESTING SEX TOY. JOE THE INTERN, VERY CONCERNED. MORE AT 11.” But seriously, I was super curious to find out what the deal was with this toy.

Besides warming while you use it, the Entice Vivien is similar to most higher-end rabbit vibes that you’ll find on the market. It’s made of silky smooth silicone (omg, this toy is so soft to the touch. It’s kind of amazing), is fully rechargeable by USB and features 8 different vibration modes. It also has dual motors, which means you get lots of vibration in both the shaft and the clitoral stimulator. The entire toy is about 6 inches long, but only 3.5″ of that is actually insertable, making this toy on the smaller side. This is great for beginners, but maybe not for people who tend to enjoy slightly larger toys.

Here’s a photo to give you an idea of scale as compared to some of the other rabbit vibrators that I’ve reviewed for Cal Exotics – including my beloved Body Soul Lover (in the middle.)

Vivien 1
The Vivien is actually the second vibrator that I have reviewed from the Entice line. Earlier this year I reviewed the Entice Isabella – a good quality, solid vibrator that I liked, but didn’t fall in love with. So, I wasn’t sure what to expect with Vivien.

Although 104 F/ 40 C sounds really toasty, it’s not really. Our average body temperature is around 98.6 F/ 37 C. So really, the Entice Vivien is really only getting a few degrees warmer than your body temperature. Once I took this into account I was much less nervous about using the toy.

So how does it feel, you ask? It feels nice. The warming sensation isn’t super obvious, but you do feel a bit of extra warmth which isn’t a bad thing. However, silicone toys tend to conduct body heat really well to begin with, so I didn’t feel like it was that different than using one of my other rabbit toys. It felt good, but not revolutionary.

One of the main issues with the Entice Vivien is that I found the vibrations really buzzy (as opposed to deep and rumbly which I love.) So, although the warming sensation felt really nice, the vibrations fell flat for me. In this respect, I feel like the designers of this toy really missed an opportunity by including such buzzy vibrations. Now, if they combined the deep, rumbly, toe curling, vibrations from the Body Soul Lover with the warming sensations of the Vivien, that would pretty much be a perfect toy in my books. Just saying.

In conclusion, the Vivien just wasn’t quite for me. If you’re looking for a great rabbit vibrator, I would just skip the warming sensation altogether and head straight for the Isabella or the Body Soul Lover which is still my favourite Cal Exotics toy to date.

However, if you’re dying to experience the warming sensation of this toy (it feels quite lovely), you can pick one up at Sex Toys Canada for $99. Pssst – As part of their back to school sale, they’re offering 21% off your purchase when you enter the code SCHOOL at the checkout!
