Review | Like a Boss – The G4 Big Boss by Fun Factory

I had an EdenFantasys gift card that was burning a hole in my pocket, so recently I decided to “live large” and treat myself to the G4 Big Boss vibrator by Fun Factory. Although I’d been eyeing it for awhile, this is first toy that I’ve tried by Fun Factory – the German design masterminds who are known for their innovative and aesthetically pleasing adult toys.

Friends, there is no dressing this one up. The Big Boss by Fun Factory is exactly what it looks like: a big, black (or orange!), penis shaped vibrator. With a long, thick shaft and a deep, rumbling powerful motor, this toy definitely lives up to it’s name.

The Big Boss has all the makings of a luxury adult toy. It’s made of velvety soft, medical grade silicone and is 100% body safe. It’s water resistant (meaning you can use it in the shower but you can’t fully submerge it in water) and is fully rechargeable (yay!) The toys is powered by three easy to use control buttons. Similar to my beloved Lelo Soraya, I love that the Big Boss has a looped handle, which makes the toy incredibly easy and comfortable to use.

As the name suggests, The Big Boss is a larger sized toy. It has an insertable length of  6.5 inches and a circumference of 5.5 inches, making it the longest and thickest of the vibrators that I own. Although, some people have told me they think this toy is “scary looking”, I don’t think it’s scary at all. Think about it, 6.5 inches really isn’t that big – at least not for me. Studies have shown that the average penis size is approximately just under 6 inches when erect. The Big Boss isn’t an Anaconda. A better way to describe it would be “average and then some.” With that said, you will most likely need to use some water based lube with this toy.

To give you an idea of the scale of The Big Boss, I had Joe the Intern pose casually next to the Jopen Vr12 and the Picobong Kaya. Keep in mind that Joe is approximately the same height as a Ken doll. As you can see, the Jopen Vr12 is slightly longer, however the Big Boss is thicker and has more actual insertable length.

When it comes to the Big Boss by Fun Factory, what’s a “pro” for one person, might be a “con” for another. What the Big Boss really has going for it is it’s size and shape. The toy will definitely give you a fuller feeling than a lot of other vibrators. Although I usually shy away from toys that look anatomically correct, I think this one is beautiful. However, the Big Boss isn’t just a pretty face. It also packs a lot of power. With multiple speeds and vibration patterns, the Big Boss is one of the most powerful toys I own. Considering how powerful this toy is, it’s exceptionally quiet. It only gets slightly louder at the very highest settings.

This is probably going to sound like crazy talk, but of all my toys, this one definitely feels the most “realistic” – i.e. like an actual penis. From it’s slightly flexible shaft to it’s flared head that stimulates the g-spot, if you’re looking for a good stand in for the real thing, the Big Boss will definitely fit the bill. Oh and did I mention it gave me great orgasms?! Because it did.

If you love a toy with some extra girth, length and power, or enjoy toys that stimulate the g-spot, you’ll probably love the Big Boss by Fun Factory. Plus, you’ll finally be able to check off “Own a large black dildo” off your life list (come-on, I know you want to.) However, if this doesn’t sound like you, this toy might not be your cup of tea. Although I really love how this toy feels, it’s not one that I would recommend for beginners. If you’re looking for something similar but smaller and more discreet, I would suggest checking out the Lelo Mona or the Picobong Zizo.

Because Joe the Intern so kindly posed for the photo above, I thought I would let him put in his two cents on this review.

Thanks Joe for sharing that (quite disturbing) personal anecdote. I knew it was a bad idea to let Joe watch The Hurt Locker with me the other night. Anyway, although this toy satisfies me like a boss, I think this just proves my point, that the Fun Factory Big Boss maybe isn’t for everyone. I think the Big Boss is one bad-ass vibrator and am quite happy to be it’s recent hire, but that’s just me.

What do you guys think?

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys store

Show & Tell | Crazy Has Never Smelled So Good

I absolutely love how the fabulous ladies at Ohhh Canada keep sending me delicious smelling, pink treats that are just “Oh-So-Skinny Dip.” The latest addition to my growing collection of yummy smelling body care products is The Crazy Girl Pink Cupcake Body Mist.

When Katrina suggested I try this delectable body mist I was a bit nervous. When I see the words “Body Mist” I immediately think of those Calgon body sprays that we used to douse ourselves with in Junior High (Hawaiian Ginger anyone?) Fear not – although the Crazy Girl Body Mist is a similar price point, it has nothing in common with the drugstore brand body mists of yore.

Formulated for all skin types, The Crazy Girl Body Mist is infused with white tea: a powerful antioxidant that adds hydration and sexy softness to your skin. It’s also infused with Sex Pheromones (those handy little chemicals that make us yummy and enticing to others). Along with having a long lasting fragrance, it’s alcohol free, paraben free, sulfate free and is not tested on animals. I was expecting the bottle to be quite small however, at 6.0 oz it’s actually a really generous size – especially considering it’s super reasonable price tag of $11.99.

What surprised me most about this body mist is how incredible it smells. It’s called “Pink Cupcake” so I knew it would smell like Vanilla however, it smells way better than I imagined it would. The scent is a mix of sugar, cotton candy, vanilla musk and light, fresh berries. It’s a very sweet scent, but is still very delicate and subtle….and yes, it makes you smell like baked goods, without the icky alcohol residue scent that a lot of body sprays have. Personally, I love the fragrance however, if you’re not a fan of sweet, vanilla based smells this probably won’t work for you.

Now for the interesting part- Do the Pheremones actually entice the opposite sex?

I tested the body spray out on several different occasions. I wore it out on two different dates with the guy I’m seeing (he’s the only man standing after my brief foray into online dating.) and I didn’t notice that he found me any more or less attractive than he usually does. I did however spritz it on before heading to the gym the other day and noticed two separate dudes stared at me as I walked by. However, they could have been staring because…

a) They are just creepy weirdos  (a very real possibility)

b) I have this bad habit of stuffing my iPod into my cleavage whenever I need my hands free to grab a drink of water.

c) I generally go to the gym make-up less, with unwashed hair and simply looked like a hot-mess.

d) Some version of all of the above.

Your guess is as good as mine.

To get a male opinion, I decided to consult Joe the Intern:

Thanks for your comments Joe! That story was, um, slightly awkward.

At the end of the day, who cares what other people think? I’ve been wearing this body mist non-stop since it arrived because it makes me feel sexy. This is one instance where I am totally comfortable being called a “Crazy Girl.”

BTW, If you’re looking to kick things up a notch in the bedroom with more than just body spray and you live in Toronto, the fabulous Katrina of Ohhh Canada is hosting “Save My Sex Workshop: Fun & Spicy Ways to Get Out of a Sexual Rut” April 3rd. Looking to re-inject some excitement back into your sex life?  Or just not having enough sex for your liking? Katrina’s goal with this workshop is to provide fun and interactive tips (but not too interactive! OMG, it’s not that kind of workshop) on how to add more zing to your bedroom activities. I wish I could go to this workshop because I know it’s going to be a blast. Katrina is has a fun, quirky, conversational style and is just so much fun to hang with. Check it out if you’re in town & sign up here.

PS. I received the Crazy Girl body mist free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion of the product.

Kiss Me, I’m Irish…or Something

It’s funny, people have been trying to get me to wear dark green for years, claiming that with my dark hair, light skin and freckles that I have “the perfect Irish colouring to pull it off!” It’s true, I do have some distant Irish heritage on my maternal Grandmother’s side however, the dark hair and the fair complexion actually come from my Polish relatives on my Mom’s side. I’ve never worn a lot of dark green, even though I supposedly look good in it. When it comes to colour, I usually gravitate towards reds, corals and blush tones.

So, when EdenFantasys offered to send me a new piece of sexy lingerie to try I thought “Now is the time to test out this green theory!” I knew I wanted to try a corset so I chose this beautiful green satin and lace corset from Coquette’s Emerald Isle collection.

Although I have a fairly decent collection of lingerie, this is the first corset I’ve ever owned. I was really nervous about ordering something that is meant to be so fitted online, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with the overall quality and fit.

The corset is made of rich emerald green satin with black lace overlay, and is fully boned. It features a front and centre hook & eye closure, lace up detailing in the back and an attached sash at the waist. The corset also features 6 removable garters and straps if you want to add stockings. There’s also an extra set of detachable bra straps included if you’d prefer not to go strapless.

Trying a corset for the first time is an interesting experience. Without any help it took me a while to figure out how to get in and out of the piece on my own and even longer to get the size adjusted correctly. What I found worked best for me was to do up the hooks and eyes on the front first and then adjust the fit with the ribbons at the back. Once I got myself into it and tightened the ribbons, I absolutely loved the effect. The corset nipped in my waist, giving my torso more of a sexy hourglass shape.

Because the corset features plastic boning, it definitely has a stiffer feel than non-boned lingerie pieces like the Baci Red Mesh Dress. Personally, I didn’t find it uncomfortable, however it did take a few minutes to get used to how it felt. The corset definitely gave me good posture and made me stand up straight. The downside is that by nature, a corset does restrict your range of motion slightly. I don’t think this is a piece that I’d leave on while having sex – then again – maybe that’s the point. This isn’t a piece that’s meant to stay on for long.

(With that said, I’ve gained a lot of respect for women who used to have to wear binding, physically uncomfortable corsets on a day to day basis.)

One of the main reasons why I chose the satin and lace corset was because (judging by the photos on the EdenFantasys website) it seems to be flattering to a wide range of body types. Here it is in plus size:

My only negative comment is that I found the corset was cut quite high in the armpit area. This might not be a problem for everyone. It was just something I noticed. I probably could have pulled the corset down a bit, therefore showing more cleavage however, I wanted to keep things classy for you internet.

Overall, I really loved this piece and am excited to add it to my lingerie collection. It’s sexy, yet surprisingly tasteful. Paired with a pair of ruffly panties, it definitely has a fun, “sexy saloon girl” vibe. It’s perfect for some bedroom role-play or your next St. Patrick’s Day seduction.

Also, I think the rest of the world is on to something because I think the green looks nice!

This corset makes me feel like the heroine in my very own bodice ripping novel fantasy, anxiously waiting for my leading man to ride up on his horse and throw me down in a pile of hay so we can totally go to town on each other. Yes, that. I just need the leading man.

Have any of you tried corsets? What did you think?

Review | Spicy Subscriptions Box

February is a really great time to be a sex and relationship blogger. Although it’s TBD as to whether I’ll have a Valentine  to spend the 14th with this year, the fab companies I work with have been awesome at making me feel like a spoiled princess. Between all the condoms, lingerie & cool massage-y stuff I’ve received recently, if something romantic does go down on V-day, you better believe I’ll be ready.

Last week, the ladies over at Spicy Subcriptions sent me a Premium Spice Box to sample. Spicy Subscriptions works similarly to other subscription box services that are all the rage right now. Once you’ve signed up, every month you’ll receive a curated collection of Romance, Intimacy & Beauty products hand-picked from their Spice Shop. The Spice Box contains Romantic Gifts and an assortment of Intimate Toys, Massage Oils, Sexy Lingerie, Romantic Fragrances and more!

Here’s a peak inside the February Premium Spice Box:

The Premium Spice Box arrives in a beautiful printed, glossy black box filled with bright coloured tissue & lots of sexy goodies! It’s also shipped discretely so you don’t have to worry about the UPS guy knowing what you’re up to.

Inside the box I found a variety of different samples, including a couple of different kinds of lubricant from Jo, Frolic lubricant (“A Specialty Toy Lubricant for Women”), Aloe Cadabra Peppermint Tingle Lube and Almost Naked lube by Good Clean Love. There was also a condom sampler from one of my favourite condom brands Glyde which you may remember from the infamous Skinny Dip condoms!

The samples are all things I will use however, the real stars of the box were the larger items. Inside I found a Heart’s Desire Warming Body Massager, a full sized bottle of Dona’s Aphrodisiac Infused “Sensual Chromotherapy” bath treatment, a set of golden Ben-Wa balls and a jar of edible “Body Icing: Edible Finger Art for Lovers”

The Warming Body Massager is a heart shaped, jelly filled little contraption designed to be used during massage to provide “tantalizing warm excitement.” All you have to do is bend the little disc on the inside of the massager and it activates it’s built in heat source. Sounds kind of perfect for a romantic massage, or in my case using on my stiff neck or shoulder muscles while I re-watch Season 1 of Homeland with my cat.

The Ben Wa balls on the other hand are unmistakably sexy. If you’re not familiar with what they are all about – it’s worth reading my review of the Lelo Pleasure Beads for a full explanation. Designed to be inserted inside you, these smooth metallic balls (approx. 1.5 cm in diameter) help you do your Kegel exercises, strengthening your vaginal wall and PC muscles, which in turn positively impacts sexual arousal and the ability to enjoy intercourse. I haven’t tried these yet, however I love the slick, cool, metallic feel of the Ben-Wa balls.

Thirdly, included in the box was a jar of Edible Body Icing and an applicator brush. Looking to do some “adult finger painting” with your partner? This is the stuff. The best part? It’s totally edible which means you can lick it off later. Just make sure you refrigerate it after using it because it’s made from natural ingredients. The “Sensual Strawberry” flavor has the taste and consistency of strawberry jam, minus the extreme sweetness and stickiness. This is awesome because if I find myself alone on Valentine’s Day and run out of chocolate, I can always spread some of this on a piece of toast. I’m only partially kidding.

The only thing I wasn’t totally crazy about in my Spicy Subscription box was the Dona Chromotherapy bath product. Although I think using colour and pheromones to create a sensual experience is a really cool idea, the intense mango and mandarin orange smell of the bath treatment was just way too much for me – especially since I’m not a huge fan of things that smell like orange. The smell of this one brought me back to Junior High when girls used to douse themselves in Bodyshop Satsuma & Fuzzy Peach perfume. Although I usually love Dona products, this one just didn’t do it for me, but it might for someone else.

With that said, overall I really liked my Spicy Subscriptions box. The premium box retails at $22.95 per month. Considering I got 4 full sized products and a bunch of useful samples, I feel that the price is good value for what you get. If spicing things up in the bedroom is something that’s on your list for 2013, this subscription service allows you to explore different products each month without breaking the bank.

The question is with all these great romantic, massage-y products coming my way, does this mean The Universe has plans to send me someone for me to use them with?! I hope so 🙂

I received these goodies from Spicy Subscriptions free of charge in exchange for my honest assessment of the product. All opinions are my own because that’s how I roll.
