Review | Shopping at Cupid Boutique

Although I now do most of adult product shopping online, I probably never would have become interested sex toys had it not been for actual brick and mortar sex shops. Long before I was sex and relationship blogger with an enviable toy collection, I did all my adult product shopping at the stores that lined Yonge Street in Toronto. Cupid Boutique was one of these stores.

With five locations in Toronto, Brampton, Etobicoke and Mississauga, as well as a comprehensive website, for many people (like myself) stores like Cupid Boutique are their first introduction into the magical world of sex toys and adult products.

It’s been a few years since I stepped into a Cupid Boutique, however when I visited their website I was excited to see that they carry a bunch of my favourite luxury brands like Lelo, Jimmyjane and We-Vibe. So, when Cupid Boutique asked me to share some of my top product picks I couldn’t resist. Here’s a few of my favorite finds from Cupid Boutique –

1. Tango Pleasure Mate Collection by We-Vibe – I absolutely adore my super tiny & super powerful We-Vibe Tango. This handy set includes a We-Vibe Tango (if you don’t already have one or need an extra one just in case..) and two silicone attachments that turn this powerful external vibrator into an internal one. 2. Hello Touch by Jimmyjane – As you probably know, I love my Jimmyjane Form 2 and my Jimmyjane Massage Candle. So, naturally I was super curious when this awesome brand came out with the Hello Touch – an innovative vibrator that allows you to deliver internal or external vibrations from the tips of your fingers. I’ve been curious about this toy for awhile because it looks like something straight out of Blade Runner. For all of you sci-fi nerds, the Hello Touch is perfect for turning your fantasies of hot, futuristic, robot sex into reality.

3. The Layaspot by Fun Factory – Fun Factory is another great brand known for it’s high quality, innovative toys. I’ve been wanting to try the Layaspot ever since City Girl reviewed it a few years ago.

4. Earthy Body “Naked in the Woods” Summer Skincare Bag – I have Earthy Body’s “Skinny Dip” skincare kit and love it (obviously.) So when I saw they have a “Naked in the Woods” collection, my interest was piqued. This is another great company that uses tons of yummy, skin-nourishing natural ingredients like Hemp and Argan oils in their products.

5. Sexy books – Cupid Boutique carries a decent selection of LGTB books and sex guides, including classic 1950’s Lesbian pulp fiction titles like Three Women and Twilight Girl, and When I Knew – a collection of coming out stories (I love the cover art!)

6. Hathor Aphrodisia Exotic Love Oil – I’m obsessed with all Hathor Aphrodisia products, so I would love to give their Exotic Love Oil a try (sounds prefect for a romantic massage!)

7. Ruffle panty by Coquette – I own tons of lingerie by Coquette. These panties look cute and comfortable!

8. Leaf by Swan Vitality Massager – I haven’t tried any products made by Leaf yet but I love that they’re a environmentally friendly Canadian company. This leaf-like dual stimulation toy looks like an innovative spin on the classic rabbit style vibrator!

9. Rechargeable Smart Wand by Lelo – Confession: I’m not a big fan of the notorious Hitachi Magic Wand because it’s materials irritate my skin and you have to plug it into the wall. However, I am a big fan of Lelo products. I’m curious to try their version of the wand that’s fully rechargeable and made with skin-friendly silicone.

10. Intensity by Jopen Pelvic Exerciser – Here’s another toy that I’m super curious about. The Intensity by Jopen is a pelvic floor exerciser and vibrator in one. The fact that it also looks like a hairstyling tool makes it too weird not to try.

The Crave Vesper: Luxury Vibrator & Jewelry in One

On Saturday night I went to a party and wore a vibrator as jewelry – but I’ll get to that in a second.

The Vesper Necklace has everything that I’d expect from a Crave toy. It’s ultra-sleek, stunning and utterly unique with sexy, discreet features that make you feel like you’re living in a spy movie (because what’s more sexy and daring than wearing a secret pleasure device?)

The Vesper Necklace is a luxury vibrator that also doubles as a piece of jewelry. Made of smooth, stainless steel, the Vesper is fully body-safe and features a curved tip designed for precise clitoral stimulation – in public, in private or anywhere in between. It’s fully rechargeable by USB and comes in silver, gold and rose-gold. The top of the vibrator is elegantly engraved with the Crave logo and comes with an attached chain.

The Crave Vesper is ultra discrete, and looks more like a piece of chic jewelry than a sex toy. In true spy-like fashion, to charge the device you simply have to unscrew the cap, insert the USB cord and plug it into your computer. Super easy, right?

I wear a mix of silver and gold, so I ordered the Vesper in rose gold, because I loved the two-toned look. I’m not quite sure what else to say, except that the Vesper is just as stunning in person as it is in the photos – perhaps more so, because it’s mine…ALL MINE!

Two New Lingerie Looks for 2015

Over the past year, I’ve found that Overstock.com is a great place to find everything from chic accessories to items for the home. I’m still swooning over the black and white chevron pillows I picked up from them for my bedroom revamp. However, it wasn’t until super recently that I discovered they actually have a decent selection of lingerie. Who knew, right?

To give you an idea of what they have to offer, O.co offered to send me a couple of different lingerie looks to share with you: the Prestige Biatta Women’s Microfibre with Printed Mesh & Lace Babydoll and G-String Set ($35.19) and the Marilyn Monroe Envy Black Lace Balconette Chemise ($49.27)

First up is the Prestige Biatta Chemise. I was initially drawn to this chemise because it involves a bunch of my favourite things: black and white polka dots! Florals! Animal print! However, I was also worried that because of this, the piece may come off as a bit busy in person. You may disagree, but I actually like this set even more in person. I think it’s actually really cute and has a fun Betsey Johnson-ish of vibe.

The Prestige Biatta Babydoll is made of soft mesh fabric with lace trim. It features slightly padded bra cups, adjustable straps and is long enough to fully cover your butt (like in the product photo above.) It also comes with a matching black and white polka dot mesh g-string that’s surprisingly comfortable.

I was really impressed with the overall quality of this set. It can be difficult to know what you’re really getting when you order lingerie online, however the Prestige Biatta Chemise is really well constructed and finished gorgeously. It fits great and is comfortable to boot. The Prestige Biatta Chemise comes in a variety of different cup sizes. I ordered a 34C. Although that isn’t my exact bra size, the cups fit well enough to be flattering and comfortable. Because of this, the Prestige Biatta Chemise gets two enthusiastic thumbs up. I feel confident and sexy in this set and can easily envision myself wearing it in the bedroom & beyond!

Next up is the Marilyn Monroe Black Lace Balconette Chemise. When I first saw this chemise on O.o, it was love at first sight. As you know, I love retro inspired lingerie. I’m also a huge fan of blush and black lace as a colour combo. This chemise has both! Oh & it’s from the Marilyn Monroe line of intimates which obviously appeals to my penchant for all things Old Hollywood. (If you go to their main site you can see the complete line. It’s gorgeous.)

I’m happy to report that the Marilyn Monroe Black Lace Balconette Chemise is just as gorgeous in person. I actually had a really hard time photographing it so I’m not sure if the photos really do it justice. It’s a stunner and definitely one of the prettiest pieces of lingerie to come across my desk.

The Marilyn Monroe Black Lace Balconette Chemise is made of soft black mesh and lace, with a contrasting blush hued waistband, garter ribbons and retro styled adjustable straps.

Everything about the Marilyn Monroe Black Lace Balconette Chemise is impeccably styled and executed. The quality is awesome and this is definitely something I would have purchased for myself (I kind of want all of the pieces from the line. O.co has a few of them on sale! Sigh.)

The Fun Factory Stronic Eins: It’s Not a Vibrator, it’s a “Pulsator”

For my first review of 2015 I thought I’d start with a toy that’s been on my “sex toy bucket list” since it was released last year. The Fun Factory Stronic Eins is a sex toy that “thrusts” instead of vibrates. Yes, thrusts. Like a real penis. When I found this out I knew I had to try it (I MEAN COME ON. HOW COULD I NOT?) Luckily, the super cool people over at Sex Toys Canada were kind of enough to send me my very own Stronic Eins to review.

What you need to know about the Fun Factory Stronic Eins is that it’s a “pulsator” not a vibrator. Instead of vibrating, the Stronic Eins delivers realistic thrusting motions to simulate the feeling of real sex. It’s made of 100% body safe silicone and features a subtly curved shaft with a slight bump near the base designed for clitoral stimulation. It has 10 different thrusting patterns & levels and a very easy to use one-touch on/off button. The toy measures approximately 9 inches in length, however only about 4 inches is actually insertable.

The Stronic Eins is really one of those toys that you have to see in action to believe. So, if you’d like to get a visual of what this toy is all about. Here’s a video from Fun Factory complete with techno beats worthy of a night out with the Jersey Shore cast. The video features some medical style diagrams that may not be safe for work. If you can’t watch the video, just imagine one of those electric knives people use to carve turkeys…with a penis attached. Picturing it? Ok, good.

So, now that you’ve seen the video and maybe danced (fist-pumped?) a bit around your bedroom, you’re probably wondering what the toy actually feels like. The truth is, although I absolutely love the idea of the Stronic Eins (I mean, who wouldn’t want a toy that thrusts on demand?!) my first experience with the toy fell a bit flat.

I love that the toy is made of silky soft silicone and is super easy to use, however even though the toy felt good when inserted, the thrusting motions alone weren’t really enough to get me off. As you’ve probably surmised from my previous reviews I’m a fan of big, powerful toys – especially when they are meant to be inserted. Although the Stronic Eins touts itself as exactly that, it wasn’t quite big or powerful enough for me. Although the Stronic Eins is nice and girthy, with only 4 inches that are actually insertable, it wasn’t long enough or curved enough to really reach my g-spot. That isn’t to say this toy didn’t feel good – it did – it just wasn’t enough to really push me over the edge.

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for The Sexually Adventurous

One of the best parts of writing this blog is that I get to try a lot of products that I wouldn’t normally have access to. I also get to recommend cool things to my friends. That’s why I was super excited when Lovehoney decided to send me the following two products just in time for the holidays. Both of these items are a bit out of the ordinary and would make awesome, affordable stocking stuffers.

It’s been a really long time since I reviewed a glass toy, so I thought it would be fun to feature one again. The Lovehoney Curved Realistic Sensual Glass Dildo is a gorgeous piece of erotic architecture made of silky, smooth reinforced glass. One of the nice things about glass toys is that you can heat them or cool them for temperature play. Simply submerge the toy in warm water, or cool it in the fridge for 10 minutes before use. Be sure to test the temperature on your arm, before directing it towards more intimate areas. Because it’s made of nonporous glass, it’s also 100% body-safe and compatible with any lube you choose.

The Lovehoney Curved Realistic Sensual Glass Dildo is 8.75 inches long, with 8.56 inches of insertable length. So, this is not a small toy. It’s pleasantly large. It has a slightly curved shaft and bulbous head for g-spot or p-spot stimulation. Because it has a flared base, you can also use it anally. However, because of the length I wouldn’t recommend this for beginner’s anal play.

Overall, I was really impressed with the quality of this toy, especially given the reasonable price point. The glass is super sturdy and soft to the touch. The toy even comes with a soft, velvet carrying case that’s trimmed in a hot pink ribbon tie.

If you’ve never used a glass toy before my advice would be this: a) do it! The sensation feels really different than most other toys and b) use lots and lots of lube. Need some lube suggestions? Any of the ones in my condom and lube sampler pack rock. I’m also a huge fan of Hathor Aphrodisia.

Personally, I really enjoy it when other people use glass toys on me, so the last time I saw the European before he moved away, we experimented with the Lovehoney Curved Realistic Sensual Glass Dildo or as I like to call it “the big icicle penis” with very positive results. The bulbous head feels great against the g-spot, especially when you move it in and out using a circular motion.

Overall, the Lovehoney Curved Realistic Sensual Glass Dildo makes a sexy and unexpected gift for couples or individuals who are looking to try something new or have always fantasized about giant icicle penises (hey, I can’t be the only one.)

In fact, this is such a gorgeous toy that I kind of want to just leave it out on my desk so I can look at it while I work (yes, it stands up on it’s own!) It’s icicle like appearance also makes it perfect for creating sex positive holiday scenes that are sure to alienate your friends and family for years to come. Nope, nothing weird about this. Nothing at all…

They sent me this pair of these open back underwear from their “Love Me” line to share with you guys. Let me just put this out there: I totally get that these underwear are not for everyone. However, I’d never seen anything like them before, so I knew I had to try them.
