Review | It Only Takes One To Tango

I’m always on the hunt for new, female friendly, sex-positive businesses that I can share with you. Recently I stumbled across Burlesque Toyshop via a friend’s blog and was instantly impressed & woo’ed by their site’s gorgeous vintage, burlesque theme and awesome selection of products. Browsing through their website feels like you’re stepping into someone’s expertly curated boudoir come boutique. Seriously, you need to go check out their site and while you’re at it, take a peruse of their Tumblr – it’s sexy. So, needless to say I was totally stoked when they said they would like to work with me!

A few weeks ago, Burlesque Toyshop sent me the We-Vibe Tango to try. I’ve been dying to try the We-Vibe Tango ever since I saw reviews popping up all over the blogosphere hailing it as a “holy grail sex toy.” For those of you who aren’t familiar, the We-Vibe Tango is known as being one of the most powerful small sized bullet vibrators on the market. So I was anxious to find out whether the toy lives up to it’s illustrious reputation. The short answer? YES.

The We-Vibe Tango is a petite and very powerful clitoral vibrator (designed to be used externally.) The tapered tip delivers powerful, pin-pointed vibrations to your clit or wherever you choose to place it! Made of body safe ABS plastic, the We-Vibe Tango is crafted to the strictest consumer and health standards. In other words, it’s made of smooth, hard, shiny plastic that is 100% body-safe. A powerful update on the classic bullet or lipstick vibrator, the Tango is fully waterproof (which means you can take it in the bath, shower or wherever else your sexy heart desires), rechargeable by USB and very long lasting (you can get up to 2 hours of play on a 90 minute charge, so it’s ready when you are!!)

The We-Vibe Tango features 8 different vibration modes that are all really powerful. As you probably know from reading this blog, I love a toy with really strong, deep rumbly vibrations. The Tango totally delivers in this regard. Usually when I get a new toy I’ll crank it up to the highest or second highest power level right away. However, with the Tango I found that the first and second vibrations were pretty freaking strong and I was able to have a couple of really great orgasms before I even veered into the higher levels.

I’m not really sure what I can say about this toy except that is totally awesome and pretty much rocks my world (bedroom? toy box?) This is one of the most satisfyingly intense toys that I own and has joined the club along with my Jimmyjane Form 2 & Crave Duet as my favourite “afternoon solo quickie” toys (you know for those times when you just need to have an orgasm but you don’t have a lot of time on your hands? I can’t be the only one who has this problem.) If you’re looking for really intense vibrations packed into a super small package or are looking for a more discreet alternative to your favourite wand style toy, the Tango is for you. The Tango reminds me a bit of one of those thrilling roller-coaster rides that takes you from 0 to 100km/hr almost instantly. It’s quite the ride.

However, if you’re someone with a really sensitive clitoris who tends to like more subtle stimulation, you might find the Tango a bit intense. If this is the case, the We-Vibe Touch would probably be a better match for you. It’s also small & discreet and another one of my personal favourites!

Speaking of size, not only is this toy ultra powerful, it’s also ultra tiny. The Tango measures 3.5 inches in length, making it just slightly longer than a tube of lipstick. To give you an idea of scale, Joe the Intern has agreed to pose next to it.

Review | The Jackrabbit One Touch – a Decent Budget Vibe

Although I’m obviously a fan of very high end toys like the Lelo Soraya and the Jopen Vr 12, as an experienced sex toy reviewer I believe it’s important to try toys from all price points in order to get a well rounded view of what’s available. I’m always curious to see how cheaper toys measure up to my higher end favourites. So, as long as it’s body safe, I will try it. Just like the shabby Tacqueria around the corner from your house that makes the most amazing Carne Asada (which you’d choose hands down over a pricey dinner at the latest over-hyped trendy eatery), budget friendly sex toys are also full of a surprises. Yes, I just compared one of my favourite things (Mexican food) to one of my other favourite things (vibrators.)

When California Exotics sent me the Silicone One Touch Jack Rabbit to try I wasn’t sure what to expect. As you can see from the photo below, the clear plastic packaging (which has a distinct 90’s vibe) leaves a lot to be desired. However, what I discovered inside was a toy that’s surprisingly awesome considering it’s very reasonable price point (the toy retails at approx. $40.)

The Silicone One Touch Jack Rabbit is part of California Exotics original Jack Rabbits© collection which launched over 16 years ago and has since become wildly popular. The One Touch Jack Rabbit is a dual pleasure toy designed to stimulate you internally while the signature “rabbit ears” stimulate you externally. However, unlike it’s mid-1990’s predecessors, which were often made of questionable, toxic and/or porous materials, this little guy is made of 100% body safe, phthalate-free silicone.

It’s powered by two AA batteries and is operated by a single touch button at the base of the toy. Hold the button for 3 seconds to turn it on or off, and press the button once to cycle through 10 different modes of vibration, pulsation and escalation. Super easy!

At 6.75 inches long, with 4 inches of that actually insertable, the Silicone One Touch Jack Rabbit is definitely on the smaller side. However, like the Body and Soul Lover (also by Cal Exotics) it’s size isn’t a hindrance when it comes to pleasure. The Silicone One Touch Jack Rabbit is short and stumpy with a bulbous flared tip for G-spot stimulation.

What I like about this toy –

It’s powerful – Although this toy is powered by AA batteries, it’s deceptively powerful and has deep, rumbly vibrations which I really like. It also has two motors: one in the shaft and one in the clitoral stimulator which I find always makes for a more pleasurable experience. This toy actually reminds me a lot of a smaller version of my first rabbit vibrator the True Love Honey Bunny.

It’s flexible – The shaft of this toy is super bendy which makes it easy to manoeuvre so you can stimulate your g-spot.

It works – This toy will give you orgasms. It’s not the most innovative or sophisticated toy out there, but it does it’s job…and quite well I might add. When it comes to sex toys, sometimes it’s nice to go “back to the basics.”

What I didn’t like about this toy –

Texture – Although it advertises itself as made of “silky soft silicone”, the toy actually has a lot of drag to it and lint seems to cling to it like crazy. When it comes to using this toy, lube is an absolute must.

It’s loud – The downside of all of that battery operated power is that this toy is loud as hell. As in, your neighbours may think that you’ve taken up woodworking as a hobby. In other words, it’s not the most discrete of sex toys.

It takes batteries – I do not have a good relationship with batteries. I buy them and then they disappear into this black hole that I imagine also houses the majority of my socks.

The packaging – As much as I know it’s “what’s inside that counts” the packaging reminds me of the early 90’s soft core movies starring Shannon Tweed that used to be on super late at night when I was in high school. They were amazingly awful while at the same time titillating. Although I have found memories of laughing hysterically at these movies with my gay bff, I feel like the One Touch Jack Rabbit could do with a packaging update.

Although I feel like the Silicone One Touch Jack Rabbit could do with a bit more “finesse” (i.e. softer and quieter) it’s not a bad toy at all. I actually enjoyed it more than the luxurious looking Entice Isabella and a heck of a lot more than the nightmarish Body and Soul Bliss which made my lady parts burn (in a bad way) – both of which are more expensive. If you’re on a tight budget and want a rabbit vibe, the Silicone One Touch Jack Rabbit is a good body safe option that won’t break the bank. However, with that said, if you have an extra room in your budget, I’d suggest the Lovehoney Happy Rabbit (for a larger toy) or the Body Soul Lover (for a smaller toy) which is still my favourite vibe from Cal Exotics that’s under $100.

Is That A Wheel of Tongues In Your Pocket….

Exciting news guys! Remember the Sqweel – that crazy sex toy that looks like a wheel of tongues?! Of course you do, because as I mentioned before, I get asked about this toy all the time. In fact, whenever I’m out for brunch there’s at least a 70% chance that someone will bring up the Sqweel. I kid you not. The Sqweel Go remedies both of these issues. It’s fully rechargeable and is designed ergonomically to fit in the palm of your hand. Also, unlike the Sqweel 2 which was fairly large and bulbous, the Sqweel Go is designed as a travel sized toy… or as I like to call it, “pocket sized” (for simulated oral sex on the go!)

The Sqweel Go is a pocket sized clitoral vibrator that is equipped with a rotating wheel of 10 silicone tongues and 6 speeds & patterns for intense stimulation. Apply a drop of water-based lube to the rotating wheel of soft silicone tongues, switch it on and experience orgasmic sensations as each of the 10 tongues lick your clitoris. Use your Sqweel Go anywhere you like to be licked, including your nipples, perineum (boys can have fun too!) or anus.

The Sqweel Go is body safe and is discretely rechargeable via USB. Simply plug it into your laptop, computer or USB mains plug and charge for 2 hours for up to 1 hour of play.

Although I was super excited about the new features of the Sqweel Go, i.e. that it’s rechargeable (me and purchasing batteries are not friends), I was also slightly apprehensive. Would the small stature of this toy live up to the glory of the original?

The answer: yes. In fact, I actually think I like the Sqweel Go better. Because of it’s size, I found it way easier to control. I was able to apply it to my clit but also easily manoeuvre it to massage other pleasure spots without it ever feeling awkward. Also, the tongues are softer and more flexible, which I found worked really nicely for me. The end result was that I ended up having a really delicious orgasm & then went back for more!

Instead of impeding pleasure, I feel like this smaller version of the Sqweel actually enhances it. I love how small and discrete the toy is. Whereas the original Sqweel screams out, “Yo, I’m packing a wheel of tongues!”, this little guy (or gal) kind of looks like one of those tiny pocket sized fans that they sometimes give out at conferences (but a lot more fun.) Also, it has a one touch control button: hold it down to turn it on/off and press it once to cycle through the various patterns and intensity levels.

The Sqweel Go retails at the same price as the original ($59.99) and given the option, I would choose the pocket sized “Go” hands down. Not only is the fact that it’s rechargeable a huge asset, overall I just think it’s a much more user friendly toy – especially if you’re a beginner.

Should You “Embrace” This New Couples Toy?

One of the more challenging aspects of writing about sex toys is when a company sends you a couples toy to review and you have no boyfriend or “sexual lab partner” in sight. This is exactly what happened when Cal Exotics sent me the Embrace Lover’s Remote right before Valentine’s Day. However, I’ve learned (through trying more sex toys than most people ever get their hands on), that a lot of couples toys can also be enjoyed solo. Therefore, I have done my best to try and give you guys an idea of what it’s like to use the Embrace Lover’s Remote vibe set.

Basically, the Lover’s Remote is two vibes in one. It features an insertable bullet shaped vibrator and a smaller external vibrator that’s also a remote control. In theory, you can either “point and shoot” – using the the external vibe to control remotely the vibrations being experienced by the partner who has inserted the bullet, or you can use both at the same time by using the remote to also stimulate the clit or provide stimulation to other erogenous zones.

Both pieces of this set are made of body safe silicone with silver plated ABS plastic accents. The bullet is approximately 3.5 inches long and the remote is 3 inches long. Both offer 7 different vibration functions & intensity levels. The bullet is waterproof, whereas the remote is only “splash proof.” Both can be cleaned using soap and water or anti-bacterial toy spray (how I clean my toys.)

However, once I did, I was able to just lay back and enjoy the ride – which I very much did!”
