Life has been so crazy the past two weeks and I’m still trying to catch my breath! Even though I’ve been working around the clock on other projects, I haven’t had a chance to work on Skinny Dip. When you haven’t blogged in awhile, sometimes it’s best to jump right in with a really fun post. So, that’s what I’m doing today. Since it’s Easter weekend, I thought it would be the perfect time to write about the latest product EdenFantasys has sent me to review. From sex toys to lingerie, I’ve had some pretty interesting things sent to me because of my blog. This, however, totally takes the cake as far as being both hilarious & sexy. I am now the proud owner of this very Playboy-esque Bunny Costume by Leg Avenue.

I never thought I would want to own anything resembling a Playboy Bunny Costume, but now that I have one it’s like I can’t go back. A quick bedroom dancing session while wearing this costume and I was hooked. However, my very feminist Mom who spent the 60’s and 70’s burning bras and attempting to overthrow the patriarchy, was less than impressed when this little get-up arrived in the mail. I don’t blame her. I have very mixed feelings about Mr. Hefner, the Playboy empire and all that it represents. The original Playboy bunnies were waitresses who served drinks at Playboy clubs. After being carefully selected through a strict audition process, Bunnies were required to remember over 143 different brands of liquor and know how to garnish 20 different cocktail variations, all while keeping a very revealing uniform in place. The thought of a bunch of scantily clad women, being objectified by men as they serve them cocktails and maintain “The Bunny Stance” (legs together, back arched and hips tucked under) obviously doesn’t sit well with my modern feminist sensibilities, which is why I feel a bit guilty by how undeniably sexy this costume makes me feel. So, the way I see it is this: If I want to wear something like this in the privacy of my own bedroom to have fun with my partner, then I’m OK with that. I know it might not make sense to some people, but it is what it is.

Besides, I’m sure many of us have weird sexual fantasies and alter-egos that don’t always make sense or fall in line with our politics. Tons of strong, empowered women love 50 Shades of Grey and have fantasies that involve handcuffs, bondage & submission. One of my fantasies just happens to involve satin, bunny ears, cotton tails and playing a game of “You be Don Draper, and I’ll be your after-work playmate.” Bunny suit first, hand cuffs later. Hey, whatever works for you right?

A bunny costume isn’t much fun if left in it’s package, so I got up super early on Easter morning to snap a few photos for you.

Here are the details about the actual garment:

The Black Bunny Costume by Leg Avenue comes with a black silky, bustier teddy (bodysuit), a set of detachable clear bra straps, a headband with ears and one detachable bunny tail. Although a set of black gloves are featured in the product photo they are not included in the costume. That’s OK, because I’ve never found a set of glamor gloves that actually fit my spaghetti like forearms. The spaghetti arms in all their glory:

I thought I could get away without using the clear straps, but I ended up attaching them in the end. The bodysuit does have some plastic boning in the front and underwire bust support, however the straps just made the whole piece feel more secure.

Although the piece is not expensive, the quality is quite nice. The bodysuit is made of silky soft, spandex-like nylon and has cute lace-up details on the side. The ears and tail are substantial and don’t look cheap. I’ve never bought anything like this online so I was pleasantly surprised with how well it fit, given that bodysuits and one-piece bathing suits can be iffy fit-wise.

My only concern about this piece is that it does ride up a bit when you move around in it. I have a pretty average length torso, so this wasn’t too much of an issue for me, however I imagine people who are very long or short waisted might have fit issues. If that doesn’t sound like you, this piece will probably fit you just fine like it did for me.

Overall, I give the Black Bunny Costume the thumbs up. If you like the look of the costume, for $29.99 this is a fun piece to add to your lingerie collection & enjoy in the bedroom – or wherever your bunny suit desires may take you! If you, like me, also have whiskey-soaked, retro-styled fantasies starring hunky 1960’s Mad Men that you’re anxious to act out, this costume will definitely get things started. FYI, If I don’t find a suitable stand in for Don Draper, I’m thinking I’ll add a black tulle skirt to this piece & wear it for Halloween next year.

It’s funny, people have been trying to get me to wear dark green for years, claiming that with my dark hair, light skin and freckles that I have “the perfect Irish colouring to pull it off!” It’s true, I do have some distant Irish heritage on my maternal Grandmother’s side however, the dark hair and the fair complexion actually come from my Polish relatives on my Mom’s side. I’ve never worn a lot of dark green, even though I supposedly look good in it. When it comes to colour, I usually gravitate towards reds, corals and blush tones.

So, when EdenFantasys offered to send me a new piece of sexy lingerie to try I thought “Now is the time to test out this green theory!” I knew I wanted to try a corset so I chose this beautiful green satin and lace corset from Coquette’s Emerald Isle collection.

Although I have a fairly decent collection of lingerie, this is the first corset I’ve ever owned. I was really nervous about ordering something that is meant to be so fitted online, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with the overall quality and fit.

The corset is made of rich emerald green satin with black lace overlay, and is fully boned. It features a front and centre hook & eye closure, lace up detailing in the back and an attached sash at the waist. The corset also features 6 removable garters and straps if you want to add stockings. There’s also an extra set of detachable bra straps included if you’d prefer not to go strapless.

Trying a corset for the first time is an interesting experience. Without any help it took me a while to figure out how to get in and out of the piece on my own and even longer to get the size adjusted correctly. What I found worked best for me was to do up the hooks and eyes on the front first and then adjust the fit with the ribbons at the back. Once I got myself into it and tightened the ribbons, I absolutely loved the effect. The corset nipped in my waist, giving my torso more of a sexy hourglass shape.

Because the corset features plastic boning, it definitely has a stiffer feel than non-boned lingerie pieces like the Baci Red Mesh Dress. Personally, I didn’t find it uncomfortable, however it did take a few minutes to get used to how it felt. The corset definitely gave me good posture and made me stand up straight. The downside is that by nature, a corset does restrict your range of motion slightly. I don’t think this is a piece that I’d leave on while having sex – then again – maybe that’s the point. This isn’t a piece that’s meant to stay on for long.

(With that said, I’ve gained a lot of respect for women who used to have to wear binding, physically uncomfortable corsets on a day to day basis.)

One of the main reasons why I chose the satin and lace corset was because (judging by the photos on the EdenFantasys website) it seems to be flattering to a wide range of body types. Here it is in plus size:

My only negative comment is that I found the corset was cut quite high in the armpit area. This might not be a problem for everyone. It was just something I noticed. I probably could have pulled the corset down a bit, therefore showing more cleavage however, I wanted to keep things classy for you internet.

Overall, I really loved this piece and am excited to add it to my lingerie collection. It’s sexy, yet surprisingly tasteful. Paired with a pair of ruffly panties, it definitely has a fun, “sexy saloon girl” vibe. It’s perfect for some bedroom role-play or your next St. Patrick’s Day seduction.

Also, I think the rest of the world is on to something because I think the green looks nice!

This corset makes me feel like the heroine in my very own bodice ripping novel fantasy, anxiously waiting for my leading man to ride up on his horse and throw me down in a pile of hay so we can totally go to town on each other. Yes, that. I just need the leading man.

Why yes, I do have a lot of favourite things!

As many of you know, another one of my favourite things is the show How I Met Your Mother. Recently I was watching the episode “Stamp Tramp” and it dawned on me that I give out my “stamp of approval” often on this blog – especially when it comes to the adult toys and sexy lingerie that I review on a regular basis. I try to always keep things positive and upbeat on this blog and I actually do really enjoy most of the products that I review. However, tis’ the season for looking back over the past year, so I thought I would share with you some of my very favourite products – the ones that I LOVE with a capital “L” and have recommended to my very best girlfriends. Some of my choices probably won’t surprise you however, some might!

1. The Lelo Insignia Soraya: I couldn’t finish off 2012 without giving one more shout-out to my favourite vibrator of all time. Finding a vibe that works for you is sometimes hit and miss, but this one fits the contours of my body perfectly and hits all of the right places…. again & again & again. You can read my original review of the toy here. The Lelo Insignia Soraya is everything that I look for in a luxury sex toy and then some: It’s body safe, rechargeable, beautifully designed and offers a wide variety of deep, powerful vibrations. If I had to choose a sex toy to take to a deserted island, it would be the Lelo Soraya because the experience is always amazing every single time.

2. The Lelo Ina 2: Whether you are looking to buy your first vibrator or update your toy collection, this is the go-to vibrator that I recommend to all my girlfriends. It includes all the features that you come to expect from Lelo products: It’s body safe, rechargeable, beautifully designed and powerful. With the Ina 2.0, Lelo have updated their original design to include a more flexible clitoral arm and increased girth & length for a fuller experience; thus solving the minor issues I had with the Ina 1.0. Use it externally, internally or both at the same time…either way, you can’t go wrong with this one.

3. The We-Vibe Touch: Although I’m not a huge fan of the We-Vibe 3 couples vibrator (I find it a bit awkward to use during sex), I absolutely love The We-Vibe Touch, their small clitoral vibrator. At 3.75 inches long, this little guy is roughly the size of a tube of lip gloss, however it’s surprisingly powerful. It has all the hallmarks of a toy box favourite: it’s made of body safe silicone, is rechargeable and fully waterproof (holla!) I know what you’re probably thinking, “Didn’t she say the exact same thing about the Jimmyjane Form 2 just a few weeks ago?!” Yes, I did more or less. Whereas I find the Form 2 almost too intense on some of the higher settings, the vibrations offered by the We-Vibe Touch are just perfect: deep, rumbling, but never uncomfortable. This is the perfect toy to use for extra stimulation while having sex with your partner or for squeal inducing foreplay/after-play. If you can past the fact that it looks like a goofy cartoon tongue, this toy is a real gem.

4. Cake Dry Shampoo: The truth about being a freelance writer and working from home is that it involves a lot of unwashed hair. Given the option of meeting a deadline or hopping in the shower, I almost always chose to shower later. (I should put that on my resume: “will forgo bathing in favour of productivity”) Although I do shower daily (I swear!) I find my hair is way more manageable when I only wash it every 2-3 days. The Satin Sugar Hair and Body Powder by Cake is truly a godsend for people like me. The first time I used it I tested it on my hair that hadn’t been washed in 3 days. I shook out a small amount of powder, massaged it into my hair, focusing on the roots. It looked a bit chalky at first but within a few minutes it had turned my greasy, limp locks into tussled beachy waves that were delicately scented with just a hint of vanilla. This stuff is kind of magic.

(It comes in a formula for both light and dark hues. I obviously used the dark on my hair)

5. Striped boy shorts by Oh La La Cheri : I discovered the Oh La La Cheri line of lingerie this summer and fell in love with their pretty and affordable lingerie. My favourite piece by them are these cute boy shorts. With pinstripes and revealing white lace, these panties are all business in the front and a cheeky party in the back.

I was so excited when these arrived in the mail that I immediately showed my Mom. She looked at them and said, “The black tie thing kind of makes me think of…chicken” Then she explained what she had in mind:

I’ve since dubbed these my Colonel Saunders panties. As disturbing as that analogy is, I do have to admit they look really, really good on. One might even say “finger lickin’ good” – the Colonel’s words, not mine.

If you are also preparing to unleash your inner seductive sex kitten, or maybe just want to freshen up the old lingerie drawer for fall, I thought I would share with you a few of the things I have tried recently and loved!

1. Annabelle boutique lace print bra and matching panties: Did someone say “Parisian designed lingerie at an affordable price point”?! Um, yes please! Or, I guess I should say “Oui Merci!” Oh la la Cheri Paris are quickly becoming one of my favourite brands because their pieces are nice quality, fit great and are offered at a super reasonable price point. I fell in love with their Annabelle boutique lace print bra ($25.99) as soon as I tried it on. The bra is made of stretchy fabric that has the matte texture of raw silk. I found the bra supportive enough for my 32D boobs with just enough lift to give a bit of sexy cleavage without looking ridiculous in a “why are her boobs pushed up to her chin?!” kind of way (a look I try to avoid.) Without showing you actual photos of me in the lingerie, I can say it fits very much like how it’s pictured and runs true to size.

2. I actually don’t own that many matching lingerie sets (I tend to always just buy bras in either black or nude & mix them with different bottoms) so I was excited when I saw that EdenFantasys carries a pair of matching Annabelle lace print bikini panties ($19.99). I don’t usually buy bikini style panties, however I like these. They’re comfy, nicely detailed and don’t ride up. After so many years of wearing almost exclusively thongs & boy shorts, it’s kind of nice to wear a sexy bikini style, don’t you think?!

I love this whole set because it’s the perfect mix of sexy & classy. It’s the kind of thing I would totally wear under a LBD for a night out, or for those days when I’m in the mood for a touch of “French flare”.

3. Foxy Bombshell Panties by Booty Parlor: Foxy Bombshell indeed. I feel like a total sex kitten in these panties by Booty Parlor. Not only are they flattering, they have this vintage boudoir feel that I totally adore. These luxurious hipster bikini panties make me I feel like I should be lounging around in a marabou trimmed robe, drinking whatever Mae West used to drink, primed and ready for seduction. Made from a light pink silk like material, they feature a cute peekaboo cut-out designed for backside cleavage. On the EdenFantays website they are listed as crotchless, but they are in fact a full panty….which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what you’re into! I should also mention that they are “one size fits most.” I think these would best fit sizes small to medium. I wouldn’t recommend them for plus sizes however, hopefully there will soon be a plus size option because these panties are super cute!

When it comes to lingerie, I love vintage inspired pieces and anything that gives a nod to the days of Old Hollywood glamor. That’s why I was super excited when Katrina from Ohhh Canada offered to send me a pair of Baci’s Champagne Floral Lace Thigh Highs.

These gorgeous lace thigh highs are the second piece by Baci that I have received from Katrina to review. Back in November, I reviewed their red mesh chemise with attached garters and was really impressed by the quality of the outfit, especially given the ultra budget conscious price tag. As I like to joke, Baci is a great lingerie brand for those of us “with Agent Provocateur taste & a Costco budget.”

Once again, these Baci thigh highs didn’t disappoint. The delicate champagne coloured lace is luxuriously soft but still feels substantial enough to hold up to multiple wears. The thigh highs feature a seductive seam up the back and a thick band at the top that helps keep them in place. You can wear these with garters however, the elastic band is actually secure enough (without being uncomfortable and digging in to your skin) that these will stay up on their own. I don’t know if I’d actually leave the house without the security of having them attached to a garter, but I managed to lounge around the house in them for several hours without once having to pull them up or re-adjust them. What I love about these thigh highs:

1) The fit: As someone who loves to wear skirts but hates the elastic waistband of tights, I love the idea of thigh highs. However, more often than not they never fit my thighs properly and I end up spending the whole day yanking them up or worrying that they are going to fall down, which defeats the purpose of wearing them in the first place. Baci stockings are the only thigh-highs I’ve never had this experience with.

2) The style: These champagne coloured stockings are simply gorgeous. These would be perfect to wear in the bedroom with a nice lingerie set. However, as a fan of funky, printed tights, I like these so much I wouldn’t think twice of wearing them outside of the house with a nice dress. At $14.99 a pair, they are very reasonably priced for what you get.

3) Sex appeal: When it comes to what makes you feel sexy, everyone is different. These stockings make me think of the days of Old Hollywood and like something you might find in Mae West’s boudoir. When I put them on I feel like a sexy starlet ready to seduce her leading man (Um, I just need a suitable leading man for this scenario.)

Contrary to what the photo may suggest, you don’t have to be a skinny Asian girl with hair long enough to cover your boobs to pull these off. To prove this, I’ve snapped a few photos of myself in the thigh highs:

The only thing you should be aware of when purchasing these stockings is that they come in “one size fits most.” They are super stretchy so I definitely think they could fit multiple sizes. However, Baci products tend to run on the small side, so Ohhh Canada advises that the stockings fit best on sizes 2-8. Also, since they are delicate – make sure to hand wash them in cold water & line dry to keep them looking their best 🙂
